I am home sick today, and am not sure what I am going to write about. But I don't seem to be able to get past one of the songs from last night. The song: You Alone; The Artist (original): David Crowder; The Issue: Rhyme. I remember the first time I heard this song. It was at the Wesley, and Peter started singing the following lyrics:
You alone are Father; And You alone are good; You are alone are Savior; And You alone are God.
Deep inside I began to cringe. Not because I was having a deep spiritual event inside, but because I was distracted by the fact that Crowder had chosen to pseudo rhyme "good" with "God". I attempt not to critique another's lyrics, for they were, more then likely, have a deep spiritual event while writing those lyrics. But, for years I have struggled though this song. Every time, feeling great wonderment of the over all song, but always struggling with the those few lines. The message: A wonderment; the lyrics: a challenging to the hear.
Last night, Dave began this song, and I knew what was coming. I didn't see it, but even Ken had looked over at me know what I was thinking. After all the trials of my life, I am one who knows the power of those lyrics. However, this time a around I did experience a spiritual event. I decided to let go of my struggle, and let loose on the song. And great things happened. By the time I was singing the words "I'm Alive, I'm Alive, I'm Alive", I was so overwhelmed that I could not even sing. I can't promise that Crowder is completely forgiven, but last night was a great start.
Here are the full Lyrics:
by David Crowder
You are the only one I need
I bow all of me at Your feet
I worship You alone
You have given me more than
I could ever have wanted
And I want to give You my heart and my soul
You alone are Father
And You alone are good
You are alone are Savior
And You alone are God
I'm alive, I'm alive
I'm alive, I'm alive
